After announcing the brewery in January, Armored Cow Brewing now has an opening date! They plan to open up the doors Friday, May 17th at 4 p.m.
The brewery focuses on brewing certain beers with gluten-free grains. It’s located at 8821 J.W. Clay Boulevard.
“I used to tell people ‘I do not know what I would do if I had to quit drinking beer because [of a] gluten intolerance,'” he said. “But now I do not worry about it.”
The phrase ‘armored cow’ comes from WWII in reference to canned milk soldiers received. Kalinoski says as a veteran himself, the name is a nod to those who served and are serving.
The plan is to have a mix of both gluten-free and traditional beer available in the taproom. In order for a beer to be ‘gluten-free,’ the beer must be made with gluten-free grains like corn, buckwheat, quinoa, millet and so on.
