Travel Back in Time With the Charlotte Hornets For Their 30th Anniversary

Attention NBA fans! You’ll be able to catch a peak of the past with the Charlotte Hornets!

Wanna live it up like its the 80s?!? Fans will be able to travel back in time for the Charlotte Hornets’ 30th anniversary!

The basketball team has called the Queen City home since 1988. The team announced their plans for the anniversary on Tuesday so fans can get pumped up for the celebration of a lifetime!

“We have a great series of activities lined up to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Hornets during the 2018-19 season,” Hornets President and Vice Chairman Fred Whitfield said.  “We believe our fans will truly enjoy this look back at the history of NBA basketball in Charlotte and the commemoration of the moments and people that have made the Hornets what they are today.”

The team announced that one of the most celebrated Charlotte Hornets alumni of all time – Muggsy Bogues – has joined the organization as an ambassador. He will join Dell Curry, who is currently a Hornets ambassador and FOX Sports analyst.

Bogues and Curry were both original team players and were both selected by the Hornets during the 1988 NBA Expansion Draft.

Other former players will be included in various aspects of the anniversary including making appearances at games and other events, according to a spokesperson.

Rex Chapman, who was the first-ever draft pick for the Charlotte Hornets in 1988, will be a guest at the team’s Draft Party for Swarm365 members.

During the “Classic Night” games, some of the organization’s all-time greatest players will be honored.  The players who will be honored are Bogues, Curry, Larry Johnson, Alonzo Mourning and Glen Rice.

Giveaways will also be held at “Classic Night” games!

The “Classic Night” games will have fans feeling like they’re in the late 80s and early 90s.

Fans will be able to vote for their favorite 10 players in the team’s history to make up the 30th Anniversary Team. Fans can go here to vote and voting launches on Monday, July 30.
