The Quarry at Carrigan Farms Is the QC’s Worst Kept Secret

This Mooresville swimming hole opens up to the public during the summer months.

Every kid has dreamed of finding the perfect secret swimming hole. You know it – rope swing, great ledges for jumping and the feel of the sun beating down. For those in the Queen City, this place exists in Mooresville at Carrigan Farms.

The Quarry originally started as – you guessed it – a quarry. The area was mined for granite to help build I-77, but during the process, they hit a spring. When the quarry filled up with spring water, it was acquired by Carrigan Farms, and the rest is history.

The farm opens it up to the public each summer, letting people swim on select days from June to September. It costs $15 to swim for the day. You’re required to wear a life jacket unless you take the swim test (only for 12 and up).

Feel free to pack a lunch and bring it with you barring any glass, cooking on site or alcohol. And if you forget food, don’t worry. New this year is a food truck to feed the family.

You can find the Quarry at 1213 Oak Ridge Farm Hwy, Mooresville NC 28115. Be sure to check the Open Swim Calendar before you go!
