In just six short months, the largest traveling Ferris wheel in America will join the North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh.
It stands 155 feet tall, which is about 15 stories high, and has a panoramic view of over 15 miles.
Assembled with an 80-ton crane from 500 pieces, the wheel takes 800 man hours to put together.
It has a total of 36 enclosed gondolas that hold six people each and can hold a total of 216 people at one time for a 10 minute ride.
To celebrate the wheels first time at the N.C. State fair, the fair is going to let fans name it. You can submit your name suggestion in the comments on the N.C. State Fair’s Facebook post here.
If your suggestion is in the top five you will be entered to win a prize pack.
To ride the Ferris wheel, you will have to purchase a separate ticket and it will not be included in the list of rides eligible for unlimited ride wristbands.
Tickets for the wheel will be $6 in advance and $7 once the fair begins. Tickets go on sale August 1.
